MURRELLS INLET, SC (WBTW) – An early morning fire in Murrells Inlet destroyed an abandoned home that once served as training grounds for SWAT.
Captain Jerry Howerton with Murrells Inlet-Garden City Fire says multiple crews were called to the 300 block of Stanley Drive in Murrells Inlet just before 5 a.m. The house was completely engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.
Firefighters from Horry County Fire Rescue and Midway Fire offered assistance, putting the fire out by 8 a.m. Officials have not commented on a possible cause for the fire but say they are investigating.
The property was an abandoned home and Captain Joey Crosby with Myrtle Beach police confirms it was once used for SWAT training.
No injuries were reported.
