Former Clemson, NFL player talks to students about bullying in Horry County

CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – Former Clemson and NFL player Ricky Sapp spoke to students about bullying in the Conway area on Thursday.

Sapp was at Pee Dee Elementary School, west of Conway, for the ‘Be a Buddy, Not a Bully’ event.

He also helped fifth graders sign anti-bullying pledge cards.

Sapp currently serves as a substitute teacher for Horry County Schools.

“When I was young, I had so many teachers, coaches, family members that were a part of my life that helped me, and when I figured out that my purpose in life was to work with kids, any time I can get back and give back, I try to do it as much as I can,” Sapp said.

Sapp grew up in Bamberg, South Carolina.

He went to Clemson and played for the Eagles, Texans and Jets in the NFL.

He’s also currently an independent sports performance trainer at a gym in Myrtle Beach.
