Valentine’s Day is a florist’s busiest day of the year and it’s a holiday they start preparing for a year in advance.
Employees at King’s Florist in Myrtle Beach tell News13 they will fill between 600-700 orders today; compared to about 50 on a normal day. They also told News13, online retailers haven’t affected business much, as the flower shop’s sales are up about 18 percent from last year.
The owner of King’s Florist, Donald King, says they have called in every delivery driver they can, “We have all of our coolers full of arrangements already made; there are flowers everywhere.”
The National Retail Federation reports, the average person will spend $160, that’s up 13 percent from last year.
