FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – Fire officials in Florence say 27 people are temporarily without a home following a fire at Brittany Place Apartments Thursday afternoon.

Fire crews responded to a large fire at the apartment complex in Florence off of Brittany Drive Thursday afternoon around 12:44 p.m., according to West Florence Fire Public Information Office Dwight Mobely.

Two apartments were destroyed by fire and eight others have smoke and water damage, according to Mobely. The American Red Cross has been called in to assist those whose home was damaged.

Crews say the fire started on the front porch of one of the apartments, but they’re not sure which floor. The Florence County fire investigator continues to work on the case. No injuries have been reported.
