FEMA disaster workers went door to door on Friday in Loris neighborhoods near Red Bluff Road and Highway 9, an area heavily impacted by flooding from Hurricane Florence.
“During the flooding, my neighbor, she’s a tiny lady she waded across the street and the water came up to her chest, she was wading in water that high.” said neighbor, Donna Wooten.
Wooten says a lot of homeowners didn’t evacuate, and that they went without power for days.
Disaster Team eight walked through the neighborhood with ipads to help get people registered and determine any unmet needs.
“We’re doing outreach face to face so that people don’t get overlooked, they don’t fall beneath the cracks, they get the one on one human experience.” said Kay Kimler,
They are encouraging people to register online to speed up the recovery process.
