Horry County officials say the county has “been made aware” of a possible theft in the county’s IT department.
“The County has been made aware of possible theft that has occurred in the County’s IT Department,” said Kelly Moore, Director of Public Information for Horry County Government. “The matter has been referred to the authorities, and the investigation is active and ongoing. We cannot offer further commentary at this time.”
Mikayla Moskov, with the Horry County Police Department, says HCPD cannot offer comment or information regarding the possible thefts.
WBTW News13 reached out to SLED and FBI officials for more information.
Thom Berry, with SLED, says they are not investigating at this time.
Don Wood, with the SC FBI’s Columbia office, said “the FBI is working with Horry County police on a theft of property matter. Any additional information will need to come from Horry County.”
When asked to clarify if this was related to the county’s IT department, Wood said “it is related to a department within the county government.”
