NICHOLS, SC (WBTW) – Friends, family, and the Horry County Sheriff’s Office held a memorial on the sixth anniversary of Deputy Tim Causey’s death.
Causey died from smoke inhalation as a result of responding to the Windsor Green fire in 2013.
On Sunday, Causey’s loved ones gathered at his grave site to share stories and say a few kind words about the fallen deputy.
“A man of service. A man who served this country in the military; a man who served law enforcement here in this county,” Horry County Sheriff Phillip Thompson said at the memorial.
While those who worked with Tim remember him as a respectful, brave and hard-working man, his family and friends recall his sense of humor and his kind heart.
“I can think of him sometimes and break down and cry, but I can think of him sometimes and I just have to break down and laugh, because everybody under this tent has been victim to his pranks, and everybody under this tent has been victim to his love,” Tim’s wife said.
“I was thinking this morning what a heartbreak to lose him, but what a blessing to have had him because it could’ve been to where I hadn’t known him at all, and that would’ve been even more sad,” Gail Causey, Tim’s sister said.
