CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – Horry County Fire Rescue officials say a burn ban is in effect until further notice throughout Horry County due to “extreme fire danger.”

“Due to Red Flag Conditions, Horry County Government has initiated an outdoor burning ban effective immediately for the unincorporated areas of Horry County,” states Public Information Officer Mark Nugent.

Fire officials say there is an increased fire danger due to low humidity and wind gusts up to 35 mph on Thursday.

Any and all outdoor burning, included permitted burns, are strictly prohibited during the ban, and anyone who conducts open burning could face legal penalties.
