Conway police have made an arrest in connection to a threat made against Conway High School.
According to Lt. Selena Small of the Conway Police Department, a written threat to the school and derogatory statement about a teacher was discovered on a bathroom wall at Conway High School Friday. That student has been identified and removed from the school.
The 16-year-old is charged with disturbing schools and malicious damage to property by the Conway Police Department, according to Small.
On it’s Facebook page, Conway High School reports that there will be additional police officers and stricter security measures in place Monday morning. School officials say they are confident that the persons responsible for the threat will not be at school, however, they are proceeding with “an abundance of caution.”
In a press release, Small said, “Conway Police Department and Horry County Schools are committed to working together and will not tolerate threats. We encourage everyone to talk with students and remind them that threats, even if meant as a joke, will result in those responsible being held accountable.”
