An elderly woman is recovering after a fire broke out at her home in Murrells Inlet.
According to Cpt. Jerry Howerton with the Murrells Inlet / Garden City Fire Department, crews were called to the house on Pecan Trail Friday afternoon.
When they arrived firefighters found an elderly woman who made it out onto the porch but was unable to go any farther. Crews helped her get away from the house to medics who evaluated her.
Firefighters then were able to quickly put the fire out. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The Red Cross was called in to assist the woman with shelter and clothing.
