Workers at the Horry County Elections office say that some of their voting machines had battery issues on Tuesday night, causing close to 300 votes to be unaccounted for.
Director Sandy Martin says county technicians are going to pick up the machines from the different precincts to bring them back to count the votes.
“They are picking them up and they are going to try to get all they can get because odds are, we are going to have a statewide runoff so we have to have those machines back to try to reprogram for the next one so we are trying to get as many picked up.” Martin said.
Martin says election workers are also pulling voter sign in sheets to match them up with the paper tapes to make sure numbers are accurate.
“We will have a better idea this afternoon once we get the machines back.” Martin said.
The results will be certified on Thursday Morning at 10 a.m. but Martin said there could potentially be a recount after that.
