The CUE Center for Missing Persons led a search Tuesday in connection to the Heather Elvis case, her family confirms.
Elvis was reported missing after her vehicle was found abandoned at Peachtree Landing on December 19, 2013. According to phone records, Elvis was last heard from on December 18.
In a statement to News13, Elvis’ father said the family had requested the area be searched “just for peace of mind.” He did not elaborate on the location.
“I am thankful to CUE and those who continue to search relentlessly and like our family never give up,” Terry Elvis added in his statement to News13. “We continue to hope and pray for answers to questions that remain unanswered and for a resolution to the lengthy legal proceedings that have yet to provide a small amount of justice.”
Sidney and Tammy Moorer were originally charged with murder in Elvis’ disappearance in 2013, but those charges were later dropped.
Sidney went to trial in 2016 on a kidnapping charge in connection to the case, but the jury deadlocked and the judge declared a mistrial. He was later convicted on an obstruction of justice charge. He is currently serving time at Lee Correctional Institution on the obstruction of justice charge.
Sidney’s wife, Tammy, has still not gone to trial on any charges she faces in connection to the case.
