CONWAY, SC (WBTW)- The crisis clean up hotline puts Hurricane Florence flood victims in touch with volunteers to help with clean up and debris removal, but the deadline to call for assistance will end in a couple of days.

The crisis clean up hotline said recovery efforts are starting to wind down. They’ve helped coordinate with more than 100 relief organizations in South Carolina.

A group from the Mennonite Disaster Relief are a part of the muck and gut crew. They have ripped everything out filled with mold.

“We do everything we acn to save what we can and everything else we just gut,” said volunteer Jonathan Shomo.

Jonathan Shomo came with the group from Virginia to help Florence flood victims.

“I have not seen anything like this in my adult life, and it’s just amazing how devastating water can be,” said Shomo.

They’ll be here until Friday, November 2nd, the same day the crisis clean up hotline ends.

Hotline executive director, Aaron Titus, said they’ve received about 25,000 phone calls after Hurricane Florence and a third of those are from people in South Carolina.

The hotline connects people to volunteer groups like Americorps, who have 17 people helping in Horry County, but the odds of calling now and getting help is low.

“Communities are overwhelmed, and I wish we could guarantee that everyone can get help. I can’t, but I can guarantee that you won’t be forgotten. When you call the crisis cleanup hot line that list will be available to long term recovery groups and relief organizations over the long term,” said Aaron Titus.

Titus said your best bet is to seek help from the local community.

Americorps will continue their recovery efforts until November 26th.
