The coroner’s office has identified a man who died in an apartment fire in Georgetown.

The Georgetown County Coroner’s Office identified the man who died as 68-year-old James B. Cooper, of Georgetown. 

Cooper died from extensive third degree burns, the coroner’s office said. Cooper’s death was ruled an accident. 

On Wednesday morning, Georgetown fire crews responded to a call about an apartment fire on Martin Street in Georgetown. 

Captain Nelson Brown, with the Georgetown Police Department, said two apartments burned. 

Officials have not yet released information on any additional injuries or what caused the fire.
