PAWLEYS ISLAND, SC (WBTW) – The body of a missing swimmer has been found in the surf on Pawleys Island, according to a press release from the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office says the Georgetown County Coroner has been called to the scene.
Georgetown County Coroner Kenny Johnson identified the drowning victim as 18-year-old Ivan Reyes Tagui, of Georgetown.
Chief Doug Eggiman with Midway Fire Rescue says the body was found at near 740 Springs Avenue, not far from where crews were looking for the missing swimmer.
Crews from various agencies were looking for a missing swimmer after receiving a call for three swimmers in distress in the area Saturday afternoon.
