CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – A Conway woman who was previously convicted in her husband’s death has been released on bond.

According to J. Reuben Long Detention Center booking records, Heather Causey Sims, 37, was released around 4:03 p.m. Wednesday. Her bond was set at $50,000.

In February, News13 reported that Sims’ voluntary manslaughter conviction in her husband’s death had been overturned.

According to court documents, the appeal was filed on December 4, 2018 and the opinion was filed on February 27, reversing the conviction.

The document also said a retrial would fall under the Double Jeopardy clause.

Sims was sentenced to serve 10 years for voluntary manslaughter in November 2015 for the 2013 death of her husband, David Sims, Jr.
