A hardworking police officer was honored at a luncheon in Conway on Friday.
Waccammaw Sertoma Club gave the “Service to Mankind” award to Conway Police Department Sgt. Johnathan McCallister.
“Sertoma,” in this case, is an acronym for “service to mankind.”
It’s the fourth year the award has been presented.
“You’re not just an employee. You’re not just punching a clock every single day. We have the opportunity here to interact with other departments across the city, interact with people across the city. We’re a close-knit family,” said McCallister.
The award recipient is voted on by peers.
