CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – Leaving a sticky note on a police cruiser didn’t land anyone in jail today on the Horry Georgetown-Technical College campus on Friday. In fact, it was encouraged.

The HGTC Criminal Justice Club and Conway Police Department teamed up for their third annual ‘Cover the Cruiser Event.’

For a dollar, you can stick a sticky note on the cruiser and the money goes to Conway Special Olympics.

“They need the money, so they can do their training, so they can go to classes, they can go to these events, and they don’t have to worry about hotel rooms and their trainers,” said Sgt. Johnathan McAllister, with the CPD. “They’re awesome. These athletes are 100 percent amazing. And, you can tell when you’re around them they really appreciate what you’re doing.”

The goal of this year’s fundraiser was to beat last year’s dollar amount of $1,500.
