CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – Kids in the city teamed up with the city’s police department to collect back-to-school supplies.
It was part of the Conway Police Department’s “cram-a-cruiser” event Wednesday, where donations were piled into a police car.
About ten children from Conway police’s explorers program helped put notebooks, erasers and other school items in the front or back of the cruiser.
“We’re just gathering up school supplies for the year and helping students who can’t afford anything or give a little head start on school shopping for parents,” said Elijah Murphy, a member of Conway police’s explorers program.
Classes begin for Horry County Schools on August 22.
