MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Conway Medical Center parked their new, 3D Mobile Mammography Center outside both Myrtle Beach Tanger Outlet locations on Sunday.
Staff from Conway Medical Center were giving tours of the new equipment to the public.
They say that the 3D technology is state-of-the-art, and their new, mobile center helps make breast cancer screenings more accessible.
“The fact that we’re going to get access people that cannot get back to Conway Medical Center for their mammograms. We’re going to be going to them,” Susan Scarce, Assistant Director of Development at CMC said. “We want every woman to get the chance to early detect breast cancer, so being able to get to the community and help people out, I think that’s one of the biggest perks of it.”
According to a CMC mammography technician, their new machine’s paddles are proven to give women a more comfortable mammogram.
“Mammograms are scary for women, and the fact that they’re coming in knowing what they have to get done, and the fact that we can make it a little easier for them and not as painful,” Scarce said.
Conway Medical Center says the new mobile center will be up and running soon.
In the meantime, CMC is selling Tanger Outlet Shop Pink discount cards for $10 dollars until the end of October; all proceeds will go toward CMC Foundation and their 3D mobile mammography center.
The Tanger Shop Pink cards offer shoppers 25 percent off any item at participating Tanger retailers, once per day, per store with unlimited use.
