CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – The City of Conway recently received thousands of dollars from the Parks and Recreation Development Fund to install new ADA compliant water fountains around the city.

A press release from Conway spokesperson Taylor Newell, says the fund is part of South Carolina Parks, Recreation & Tourism and is sponsored by our Legislative Delegation. The $10,080 was received last month, and the money helped the City of Conway to replace two non-ADA compliant fountains in Collins Park.

The money also allowed the City to install the fountains at the Kiwanis Playground at the Conway Recreation Center and the at the shelter in Sherwood Park. In total, the PARD funds paid for 80% of the project.

James Hucks is the Project Coordinator for City of Conway Parks, Recreation, and Tourism, and he says the new fountains around the City will help residents and visitors better enjoy the facilities.

“The City of Conway is working to make sure that all of our parks and facilities are more inclusive and accommodating for all of our community members to use. Installing these new fountains is one step in the right direction to making that happen,” said Hucks.
