Conway fire crews were recognized after rescuing a child from a washing machine and buying the family a new machine.
“Last month, units with the Conway Fire Department were called to the scene of a child stuck in a washing machine. Once on scene, the crews determined that the washing machine was going to have to be taken apart,” a post on the City of Conway Fire Department’s Facebook page says. “Crew members had to use extrication cutters to cut the tub of the machine and free the child. After an hour of hard, delicate work, they were able to get the child out without injury.”
“Days later, those same men used their own money to buy the family a new washing machine,” the post adds.
The following fire department members were awarded Officer and Firefighters of the Quarter:
- Jeromy Herndon

- Travis Murdoch
- Matthew Melvin
