CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – Construction to Coastal Carolina’s Brooks Stadium will continue during the 2018 football season in order for renovations to stay on schedule.
“Construction will be noticeable, there’s no doubt about that,” says Matt Hogue, CCU’s Athletic Director.
Hogue says the team will still play home games at Brooks Stadium despite the construction, but fans will need to anticipate some changes during game days.
The majority of the renovations are taking place on the west side of the complex; fans seated there will be impacted by construction the most.
“All of those seats are there and they’re still available for sale, but you will have to be a little more mindful about how the route is to get into your seat and sort of how the passageways will work,” says Hogue.
Because crews are adding additional seating and a premium suite to the west side, fans seated near the construction will be required to use marked passageways to enter, exit and move about the stadium.
“You’ll still be able to easily get around to concessions, the restrooms, and all of the different services; it’s just going to be a different environment,” says Hogue.
The final phase of construction is expected to be complete by early 2019, however, Hogue says the inconvenience now will pay off in the years to come.
“There’s a lot fo different impacts,” says Hogue, “some of them are small, some of them are tangible, some of them are intangible, but there’s no question that it enhances the value for people who live in our area.”
Parking and the game day shuttle service will operate as normal this football season. CCU is working with a contractor to finalize the passageways fans will have to take when walking throughout the stadium.
