Students from Costal Carolina University turned their tassels this Friday and Saturday for the school’s spring commencement.
Approximately 1,183 students were eligible to walk in CCU’s graduations ceremonies this spring. Three separate ceremonies were held at the HTC Student Recreation Center and Convention Center, May 4 and 5.
Twelve students received the President’s Award for Academic Achievement, which recognizes the students with the highest grade point average. All 12 had a perfect 4.0 GPAs, graduating summa cum laude (with highest honors).
This spring also saw the largest class of Honors Program students to graduate from the school with 81 honors students graduating.
Some graduates took time to reflect on their journey, and where they will go from here. “Today is important because I made a promise to my dad when I was like five years old and starting kindergarten that I would graduate from college.” Said graduate Milciely Mendoza, “and I finally did it, and now I’m beginning a new journey in my life, and I don’t know where it’s gonna take me but hopefully somewhere good and I’m ready to make my parents proud even more.”
