The City of Myrtle Beach will hold a public meeting tonight at 6:30 about the recent increase of coyote sightings.
Although coyotes are not native to this area, the species is at the top of the food chain on the Grand Strand. Additionally, its coyote mating season, which contributes to the surge in sightings.
Some Myrtle Beach residents started a petition urging the City to take action against the coyotes using tax dollars.
Tonight’s meeting starts at 6:30 in the Ted C. Collins Law Enforcement Center. Law enforcement and wildlife experts will be there to answer questions and explain what a wildlife nuisance is.
