“I hope my years in local government will bring a fresh perspective to the challenges facing Myrtle Beach,” Wallace said.

“Growing up in South Carolina, Myrtle Beach has always been a favorite vacation destination for my family,” Wallace added. “To become part of this community and the Myrtle Beach team is an incredible privilege, and I am grateful for the opportunity.”

The City had more than 100 applications for the position. “Wallace rose to the top,” Pedersen said. Wallace’s starting salary will be $130,000.
