The City of Myrtle Beach has issued a curfew ahead of Hurricane Florence.
City Manager John Pedersen issued an emergency proclamation curfew establishment, which is in effect from 10 p.m. on Wednesday until 6 a.m. on Thursday.
According to the emergency proclamation, the curfew will be imposed within all areas of Myrtle Beach. The curfew doesn’t not apply to members of public law enforcement, firefighters performing emergency duties, emergency medical personnel, medical doctors and nurses going to or from work, emergency recovery crews, or those seeking to evacuate the city per the order of the SC governor.
“Whereas, in order for effective emergency response, only duly authorized emergency response personnel should be on the public beaches, public places, and public right of ways and thoroughfares from dusk to dawn,” states the proclamation.

On Thursday, Pederson extended the curfew to include Thursday night. The curfew will run from 7 p.m. on Thursday until 7 a.m. on Friday.
