The City of Conway has moved to OPCON 1 in preparation for Hurricane Florence.

According to Taylor Newell, the public information officer for the city, the decision to move to OPCON 1 was made at 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday to assist with lane reversals for the evacuation plan.

OPCON 1 is the highest state of emergency operations, Newell said. OPCON 1 indicates that a disaster or emergency situation is in effect and that full emergency operations are ongoing.

The city’s Emergency Operations Center is now fully activated and the city has issued a State of Emergency.
