The City of Conway is asking drivers to seek alternate routes to avoid delays as a result of flooding in Horry County and the flood prevention project on Highway 501 Bypass.

“Due to the road closures from flooding in Horry County and the flood prevention project being constructed by SCDOT on US 501 Bypass in Conway, we are encouraging motorists to seek alternate routes of travel in the Conway area to avoid significant travel delays,” states a press release from the city.

According to the release, SCDOT has closed both lanes of Hwy 501 northbound into Conway to complete this project until further notice. Southbound traffic on Hwy 501 is limited to one lane in this area.

“Motorists that need to travel northbound are encouraged to use S.C. 31 to S.C. 22 to continue on Highway 501 north to avoid significant traffic delays.”
