Coastal Carolina University and Horry-Georgetown Technical College, with the exception of HGTC’s Georgetown campus, will resume classes on Monday, Oct. 1.
According to a post on CCU’s Facebook page, the university and HGTC will “resume their normal on-campus schedules on Monday, October 1.” For HGTC’s Georgetown Campus, campus operations will be “determined when Georgetown County office reopen.” HGTC will provide an update for Georgetown “no later than Sunday afternoon.”
CCU will open residence halls to residential students beginning Friday at noon, the post says.
“You may be hearing communication from area officials asking travelers to avoid using roadways into and through several of our communities due to the flooding hazards. These communications are for safety reasons and to limit unnecessary travel,” the post states. “However, some roadways are now open, allowing for our students to return. We strongly encourage students to travel during daylight hours. Traffic congestion in Conway and around the campus is a strong possibility.”
More information about campus services will be provided by email and online for CCU students here and HGTC students here.
“Safety remains our primary concern. If you feel it is unsafe to travel to campus, please exercise your best judgment. Work with your professors to continue completing your assignments until you feel it is safe to return,” the post also states.
