Former Conway High School football coach Chuck Jordan has been named Coastal Carolina University Football’s Analyst for High School Relations.

A press release from CCU’s Department of Athletics says Jordan will “act as the team’s liaison with high school coaches, assist with the program’s summer camps, and help with the walk-on program.”

“I couldn’t be happier to have someone of Chuck’s caliber part of Coastal Carolina,” says CCU Head Football Coach Joe Moglia. “He brings a vast amount of knowledge and experience that will benefit our program.”

Jordan was inducted into the South Carolina Athletic Administrators Association Hall of Fame and the South Carolina Athletic Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2017, according to the release. In December, he will be inducted into the South Carolina Football Coaches Hall of Fame.

Jordan was previously relieved of his duties as Conway High School football coach in 2017 after he was accused of assaulting a 17-year-old student, Ka’Brian Javar Hickman. Surveillance video was later released of the exchange. According to then school district spokesperson Teal Britton, Jordan was put on administrative leave, with pay, following the incident.

Jordan and Hickman were both criminally charged following the altercation. Jordan was booked on one charge of assault and battery third degree and Hickman was arrested for disturbing schools. Charges against Jordan and Hickman were eventually dropped.

The charges against Jordan were dropped because the evidence did not rise to the level to prove his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt, Conway Municipal Prosecutor Sanford Graves says.

Jordan worked at Conway High School for 34 years.
