Classes at Coastal Carolina University have been canceled for the week and students are being asked not to make plans to return until they are notified that campus will reopen.
According to an advisory posted on the university’s website, classes have been canceled for the remainder of the week. CCU and University Housing will also remain closed and only essential personnel are asked to report to work.
“Currently, it is our intent to reopen residence halls on Sunday afternoon and to resume classes on Monday,” states the advisory. “However, based on flooding concerns and road closures in the surrounding area, please do not schedule return travel until you have heard from CCU on Thursday about final plans to resume normal operations.”
According to the advisory:
- “Students will be responsible for all assignments. Faculty will communicate to students with details.”
- “It is expected that there will be many questions about make-up classes. This information will be made available after CCU returns to normal operations and appropriate plans can be solidified.”
Faculty and staff are asked to report to work on Wednesday, the advisory says. “Your safety is the most important consideration. Please use your best judgment if you relocated and are traveling back with unsafe road conditions in your area, or if traveling to campus is unsafe.”
