CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – Coastal Carolina University has approved a new degree program in Women’s and Gender Studies.
The university will now offer a Bachelor of Science degree in the field that will focus on women in STEM fields and keeping women in STEM careers.
“Really, it’s a response to student demand for that women’s and gender studies perspective as well as our specialty here at Coastal, which is the sciences,” said Sara Hottinger, Dean of the HTC Honors College and Center for Interdisciplinary Studies.
Hottinger said the goal is to respond to workforce needs and diversifying in the work place.
