MURRELLS INLET, SC (WBTW) – Capt. Dave’s Dockside Restaurant, a staple to the Murrells Inlet community, will close at the end of the month.
The restaurant, located at 4037 Hwy 17 Business, will close Sunday, May 27, according to a statement released Tuesday morning. Capt. Dave’s Dockside has been open for 44 years, established in 1974 by brothers Kenneth and Frank Owens. The restaurant has continuously been owned and operated by the same family.
“Frank’s son, owner David Owens, and the entire Dockside family would like to thank all of their loyal guests who have supported them through the years and invite everyone to come out one more time and enjoy a piece of Murrells Inlet history before it’s gone,” the release says.
Owens has leased the property to JPA Management Group, which owns the J Peters chain. The restaurant will open as Catfish Johnny’s at the beginning of June. All Dockside employees have been asked to stay.
