A camp for kids with diabetes and asthma started on Monday in Myrtle Beach.
Camp Seven Seas and Camp Air Waves is sponsored by Grand Strand Health and works to provide a regular camp experience for kids, ages 7 to 12, with diabetes and asthma.
Among other activities, campers take field trips and keep their education about diabetes and asthma going through the summer.
“For the education and the hour, it’s learning just how to survive and be like anyone else, but then we get to go out and have fun,” says Junior Counselor Quinna Muthard. “The young people also learn more about their medical conditions.”
To take part, participants must be under the care of a doctor and require daily medication.
