LUMBERTON, NC (WBTW) – Burnis Wilkins will likely become the next sheriff for Robeson County. He received the most votes in the county’s Democratic primary, North Carolina’s voting website shows, with all precincts reporting.
There’s no Republican challenger for the seat.
Wilkins beat Ronnie Patterson by 1,319 votes with 41.92 percent of the 20,272 ballots case. The three other candidates — Randy Graham, James Jones, and George Kenworthy — together received about 20 percent of the vote.
