Body discovered in Intracoastal Waterway in North Myrtle Beach

A man’s body was discovered in the Intracoastal Waterway in North Myrtle Beach near the Sunset Harbor neighborhood Thursday afternoon.

Spokesperson for the city of North Myrtle Beach Pat Dowling says the body is of a man who is likely in his 20s. Dowling says the death was not storm-related and the man is not a North Myrtle Beach resident.

The body appears to have been in the water for two or three days and was floating south, according to Dowling. Officials are attempting to locate the man’s family.

The Horry County coroner has not yet released the man’s name.
