Boardwalk Bonanza begins on Myrtle Beach oceanfront

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – A new event kicked off on the city’s oceanfront on the Fourth of July called Boardwalk Bonanza.

The city started Boardwalk Bonanza to create a safe, family-friendly environment after several shootings and other crimes around the oceanfront over the last few years.

Five food trucks will serve up dishes at the Burroughs and Chapin Pavilion Place, which is on North Ocean Boulevard between 8th and 9th avenues North. There’s also live entertainment, some fun outdoor games and a kids activity area.

Each bonanza will have its own theme and on Wednesdays, it fitness, food trucks and fireworks.

“The City of Myrtle Beach has a recreation department that’s going to be providing outdoor “beach olympics” games here on the large lot and the oceanfront lot,” said Amie Lee of Palmetto Event Productions. “Volleyball, cornhole, bocce, a whole list. They got about 40 games.”

Boardwalk Bonanza is held every Wednesday and Thursday through the end of August, from 4 to 9 p.m.
