A black bear was reportedly seen in Myrtle Beach on Wednesday morning.
Kayla Brantley, a wildlife biologist with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, says a call for a black bear sighting in the area near Carver Street came in around 6:45 a.m. The DNR and the Myrtle Beach Police Department responded to the area around 9 a.m. to search for the bear, but no bear was found. Brantley believes the bear was a young male who was pushed away from his group.
Brantley also says black bears are common to find on the coast, especially during the summer months, and several sightings have been reported in the Carolina Forest area.
