Randy Houser was announced as one of the performers for the upcoming Hurricane Florence Benefit Concert in Myrtle Beach, but he said on Twitter that he actually will not be at the event.

In two tweets on Sunday afternoon, Houser said the following:

Unfortunately I will not be at this event. I’m not sure how that got mixed up and I hope everyone shows up to support these amazing artists and victims from this horrible storm. I wish I could be there but already had something on my calendar and I apologize for the mix up.

The tweets were in direct response to tweets from the Myrtle Beach Pelicans baseball team and VisitMyrtleBeach.com, which is the Myrtle Beach Area Convention and Visitors Bureau. The tweet by the baseball team this past Friday, and the tweet by the visitors bureau the day before announced Houser as a performer. At least two days prior to the tweets, Houser had already been listed as a performer in other media.

In an email, Shannon Elmore with Whirlwind Creative said, “there was a scheduling conflict on their end.”

No other details were provided about how the mix-up came about. Whirlwind Creative handles marketing and public relations for Southern Entertainment, which is helping organize the concert. Southern Entertainment also organizes the Carolina Country Music Fest in Myrtle Beach.

Elmore said in the time since Houser’s tweets, Chase Bryant has been confirmed as a performer at the benefit concert. More artists are expected to be added to the lineup Elmore wrote.

Mayor Brenda Bethune announced the concert earlier in October. The first artists announced were Love & Theft and the Davisson Brothers. The list of performers now includes Chase Bryant, Michael Ray, Carly Pearce, The Swon Brothers, Love & Theft and The Davisson Brothers.

The concert is scheduled to be Sunday, Nov. 11 from 1 to 11 p.m. at TicketReturn.com field at the Pelicans Stadium. More details are posted to a Facebook event page.

According to the event page, “all proceeds will go to the Area Recovery Council through the Waccamaw Community Foundation to support disaster relief efforts in Horry and Georgetown counties, as well as the Eastern SC Chapter of the American Red Cross to support disaster relief efforts in the counties of Horry, Florence, Darlington, Marlboro, Dillon, and Marion.”
