CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – Horry County Police made an arrest for a stabbing that happened late Sunday night in Conway.
Police arrested 55-year-old Ivan Alex Sweatt, of Myrtle Beach, for attempted murder.
Officials say they met the stab victim at Conway Medical Emergency Center late Sunday night where he told police that he was stabbed somewhere on Highway 31. Police confirmed that the stabbing happened on Singleton Ridge Road and say Sweatt jumped out of the car after he allegedly stabbed the victim.
Doctors at Conway Medical Emergency Center say the victim had a large gash in his lower right abdomen. The wound was about six inches long and deep enough to cut through fatty tissue, according to a police report.
Doctors performed emergency surgery on the victim as they were unsure of the extent of his injuries. Police say the victim is expected to live.
