All lanes of 17 Bypass reopen in Horry County after tree blocks road

A large tree that blocked part of 17 Bypass in Horry County has been removed and all lanes are now back open, as of 12:00 a.m. Saturday.

According to the Myrtle Beach Police Department, officers and city services were working to clear the tree from the southbound lanes at 38th Avenue North on Friday night.

According to South Carolina Highway Patrol, the incident began just before 10 p.m. That was at the same time that storms blew through a portion of Horry County.

About 2,700 power outages were reported throughout Horry County around 11 p.m., according to Santee Cooper. That number was down to about 1,000 by 11:30 p.m. 

Duke Energy reported about 500 outages each in Marlboro County and Robeson County. Robeson County was down to about 240 outages by 11:30 p.m. and Marlboro County was down to just about 30 outages.
