About 3700 without power in North Myrtle Beach, outage caused by blown transformer, officials say

Thousands of North Myrtle Beach residents are without power after an electrical transformer blew on Tuesday evening. 

A post on the City of North Myrtle Beach’s Facebook page says an electrical transformer blew on Tuesday evening at 13^th Avenue South, leaving about 3700 residents without power. 

According to the post, the area impacted by the outage extends from the waterway to the ocean between 6^th Avenue South and 41^st Avenue South. 

“Santee Cooper is working on repairs and should have power restored by 9:45 p.m., if not sooner,” the post says.
