Myrtle Beach City Council will meet this morning and on the agenda, how changes to cell technology can change the City’s appearance.
In 2018, the FCC approved regulations to reduce the amount of control cities have on the way the new technology will look.
Spokesman for Myrtle Beach, Mark Kruea told News13, the City has worked hard to place utilities underground and hopes the FCC agrees to one of the designs Council approves to house the 5G technology.
“The FCC basically said cities, you’ve got 60 days,” Kruea said. “A 60 day clock once that application comes to you to respond to it, so we would like to have some designs already to go so to say, these are the preferred designs so if you want to do one of those designs, great.”
Another item on Council’s agenda, the motion to approve the City Manager to begin a Request for Qualifications to find an architect for the arts district approved in the Downtown Redevelopment Corporation’s Master Plan.
Council unanimously approved the blueprint in March and this marks the first step council has taken toward construction since its approval.
