MONDAY 11:43 AM UPDATE: The two officers involved in Saturday morning’s shooting have been placed on a paid administrative leave, MBPD confirms to News13.

The department was not able to provide further comment, but referred us to their Policies and Procedures Manual.

It says any officer involved in a ‘deadly force incident’ will be placed on a leave ‘without loss of pay or benefits.’

News13 continues to seek additional details surrounding Saturday’s officer-involved shooting.

UPDATE: The Horry County Coroner’s Office identifies the person fatally shot as Matthew Graham, 32, of Loris.


UPDATE: The Horry County Coroner’s Office confirms to News13 there is a death in connection with this shooting.

A press release from the Coroner’s Office says the deceased is a 32-year-old man.

His identity was not released.

UPDATE: The officers involved in the shooting early Saturday morning are not hurt.

Cpl. Thomas Vest with Myrtle Beach police tells News13 the officers were not injured in the incident.

He was not able to provide a status for the suspect.

SLED offered News13 this statement in an email:

“SLED is aware of the incident and has begun an investigation into the matter.  No additional information is available at this time as it is an active law enforcement proceeding.”

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Just after 2 a.m. Saturday morning, October 12, two Myrtle Beach Police Officers were involved in a shooting in the area of 65th Ave N and Wedgewood Street.

Per established protocol, SLED will be conducting an independent investigation, while MBPD will be reviewing the incident internally. Myrtle Beach Police is asking for patience while every lead is investigated.
