MYRTLE BEACH, SC  – With the U.S. Navy Blue Angels listed as headliners for the 2018 Wings Over Myrtle Beach Air Show, expectations were high for a well-attended event.  Air show organizers and local officials originally estimated crowds of 80,000 based on previous shows, recommendations, and other area event data.  However, actual attendance estimates exceed 120,000 spectators.

The Myrtle Beach International Airport served as the backdrop to a line-up of world-class military and civilian performers including: the ACC F-16 Viper Demonstration Team, the US SOCOM Para-Commandos Parachute Team, the GEICO Skytypers Air Show Team, Patty Wagstaff, Mike Wiskus, Rob Holland, Scott Yoak, Jim Tobul, and the Smoke-and-Thunder Jet Car.

“We couldn’t be more appreciative of the support from VisitMyrtleBeach.com, the Horry County Department of Airports in conjunction with the Myrtle Beach International Airport, our air show sponsors, air show performers, but especially the people that joined us for our first Wings Over Myrtle Beach Air Show,” shares JLC AirShow Management president John Cowman.  “We had some challenges on Saturday with an inadequate number of shuttles for the remote lot, but worked closely with the county to resolve the issue.  Wait times for shuttle service on Sunday were limited with most being able to board shuttles quickly.”

Officials say they intend to host the second annual Wings Over Myrtle Beach in the spring of 2019.
