Horry County Fire Rescue and the SC Forestry Commission responded to a brush fire that was approximately 10 acres in size Wednesday afternoon.
The call came in at 2:40 p.m. Crews responded in the area of Ole Bellamy Drive, near Railroad Drive.
HCFR told News13 the department was protecting the area around the fire to ensure it did not spread while the SCFC fought the fire from the inside.
HCFR had 5 engines on scene and a drone, which the department used to see the fire’s behavior from above.

It’s not clear what led to the fire. HCFR says there were no injuries nor any structures damaged.
A News13 photographer spotted a lot of smoke on scene.
At around 8 p.m., HCFR told News13 the fire was out but that units would remain in the area.
The department says it also put signs up to let people know that they may still see smoke in the area.
These signs are going up in the Bucksport area after this afternoon’s brush fire, letting people know there will be residual smoke. It’s been controlled and extinguished after lots of hard work between our #HCFR teams and @ForestryCommish.
