One person has been arrested after the Horry County Police Department and bomb squad investigated a report of “unusual items” at a house.
Captain John Harrelson, with HCPD, says crews were called to a residence on the 300 block of Scottish Court after Horry County Fire Rescue crews reported observing “unusual items.”
“Horry County Fire Rescue notified HCPD of some unusual items they observed while at a residence in that area on a medical call. HCPD’s EOD team responded and are investigating out of an abundance of caution, with support from Fire Rescue. There were no threats made in connection with this incident.” Harrelson says.
An arrest warrant says 68-year-old Robert Willis Flinchum “knowingly manufactured a hoax device which caused a person reasonably to believe that the hoax device was a destructive device.” The arrest warrant also says “the defendant also communicated by way of note on a motor vehicle with the intent to intimidate or threaten injury of anyone who touched the motor vehicle.”
Flinchum was booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center around 5 p.m. on Thursday, according to booking records. He is charged with hoax device or replica, manufacture, possession, where one uses, aids or counsels another in the use of. He remains in the center and no bail has been set.
