In the aftermath of nine people’s deaths at a church in Charleston on Wednesday night, the South Carolina State Senate gathered on Thursday to honor one of the victims. They honored State Senator Clementa Pinckney who was the pastor of Emanuel A.M.E. Church where a gunman shot the victims during a prayer meeting.
Dylann Roof, 21, of Eastover is charged with the murders.
The day after the special meeting to honor Pinckney in the statehouse, Sen. Luke Rankin (R, Myrtle Beach) and Sen. Greg Hembree (R, North Myrtle Beach) joined News13 NOW to talk about the late senator whom they worked with in Columbia.
