MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) – Opening day of the Grand Strand Miracle League is in the books.
Saturday morning, hundreds of children and “local celebrities” played baseball at Miracle League Field in Myrtle Beach.
The Miracle League allows children who are mentally or physically disabled to play sports throughout the year. There was supposed to be two games Saturday morning, but the turn out was so great, the children only had enough time to play ball once.
“These kids they love this, they get to play baseball on a team, a team sport is so important for these kids. They see their older brothers and sisters be on a team and working together, teamwork, it means so much to these kids,” said Executive Director Jennifer Averette.
News 13’s Andrew Phillips, Nicole Boone, AJ Janavel, and Meghan Miller participated in the game.
